Lois Elizabeth Gray Brady

1916 ~ 2013

Lois Elizabeth Gray Brady passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2013 at the age of 97. Lois was born March 31, 1916 to father Walter B. Gray and mother Ada L. Walk. After six weeks of dating she married her husband Loren Brady of San Pete County on May 17, 1941. Shortly after getting married the happy couple moved to Fairview, Utah to live on the family farm. Together Loren and Lois raised three beautiful children, twin daughters Janet and Janice and son Merrill. In 1948 the family of 5 moved to Salt Lake City. After 42 years of marriage Loren Brady passed away in 1983. Lois was an avid baker and worked for Dunford\s Bakery for 17 years. Her love and talent for baking was shown through her beautiful cakes and pastries. She also made many of her family member\s birthday and wedding cakes. Bowling was one of Lois\s favorite past times and she bowled until she was 88 years old, many of her family members also took after her example and still continue to bowl today. But she was the only one out of all the bowlers in the family to pick up the Big Four Split. Lois was extremely family oriented -her family was her life. The family has many memories of visiting her at her home in Salt Lake City, where there was great food, good laughs, and the creation of amazing memories. After suffering a fall in 2003 where she broke her femur she moved in with her daughter Janet and son-in-law Bert Sainsbury and lived at their home in South Jordan for the next ten years. Lois enjoyed going to the Brady family reunions and being the oldest one there and all the attention that came with that honor. Lois boasted about being the oldest of five generations of women in the family. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping at JC Penney, being around people, baking with her granddaughters, and watching Family Feud, Golden Girls, Little House on the Prairie, the Brady Bunch and mostly Dancing with the Stars. Lois was also a member of the LDS church. Lois Brady will be greatly missed by all her family and friends - she was the glue that held the family together.

Lois is survived by her loving sister Helen Bauman, children Janet Sainsbury (Bert), Janice Swasey (Bill), and Merrill Brady (Linda) thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Loren, brothers, son-in-law Evan Williams, grandchildren Jeffrey Swasey, Susan Swasey, and Shellie Williams. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Aspire Home Health and Hospice and a very big thank-you to Janet Harris for all her help and support.
