Truman Vance Morley

1941 ~ 2013

Truman Vance Morley ("Ted"), age 72, died August 6, 2013 in a tragic car accident in Jackson, Michigan on his way home. Truman Vance Morley was born to the late Betty Juanita Searles and Truman C. Nelson on New Year's Day in Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University with his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, and had a long career in the Aerospace industry as a Senior Engineer Specialist in transducer electronic engineering. He married the love of his life, Jacqueline L. Morley (Jackie) in 1966. After many fun adventures and raising three adoring kids (primarily in Liverpool, NY), Ted and Jackie ultimately settled in Sandy, Utah, where Ted retired and they have been for over 13 years.

Ted's hobbies included hiking, swimming, singing in his church's choir and community chorus, Community Theater, tinkering in electronics, adventures with his grandson Nathan, and cooking. A long time member of the United Methodist church, he taught Sunday school for most of his life. Ted also assisted his kids scout troupes, and was known as "Dad Morley" by his kids' friends, who felt adopted by the loving Morley household.

He is survived by his bride of 47 years, their three children Christopher Morley (wife Margie), Kathleen Pirwitz (husband Neil), and Kimberly Morley, and his grandsons Nathan ("little buddy") Pirwitz and Brendon Morley. He is preceded by his mother Betty, mother-in-law Phyllis, father-in-law "Jim", brother-in-law Stan Grubaugh, and his daughter Kimberly's husband Stanford Workman.

The Memorial Service will be held at Hilltop United Methodist Church (985 East 10600 South Sandy, Utah) on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. All are encouraged to attend to help remember and celebrate the life of Ted.
