Patricia Buttars Godfrey

1933 ~ 2018

Patricia Buttars Godfrey, peacefully passed away at her home in Orem, Utah on January 8th at the age of 84. Born May 7, 1933 in Logan, Utah, she was the youngest of the four daughters born to Arvle Alexander and Sylvia Ermatrude Barson Buttars. Her early life was spent moving from farm to farm with her father's share cropping efforts. The value of hard work was learned early in her life, practiced throughout her life and taught to her children. Patricia graduated from North Cache High School and went on to study drawing with a professor at Utah State.

On March 23, 1953 she was married in the Logan LDS Temple, to Lloyd M. Godfrey. They raised 5 daughters and 2 sons.

Patricia developed and shared many talents during her lifetime; a great love for teaching, drawing, sewing, reading and a love for books.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents and her sisters Darlene (Ken) Braegger and Colleen (Ron) Harvey.

She is survived by her seven children: Patti Ann Godfrey, Deanna (Brad) Carter, Greg (Laura) Godfrey, Angela (Luis) Gonzales, Jenny Bigelow, Blair Godfrey, Alicia (Steve) Terry, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and Beverly Mudd, her sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel located at 500 South 600 West in Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral beginning at 9:45 am. A viewing will also be held Friday, January 12th, from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary located 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy. Interment will be in the Clarkston City Cemetery, Clarkston Utah.
