Irma Katharina Radtke

1923 ~ 2014

Irma passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born in the small farming village of Massenbachhausen, Germany to Joseph and Anna Goldfuss. Her family of three brothers, Hugo, Joseph, Wilhelm and her sister Anne were raised as hard-working yet fun-loving children. At the end of World War II, she met a handsome young soldier, Erwin Radtke. They were married in 1948. They had their first son, Manfred, in 1950. In 1954, the family left Germany and immigrated to Lethbridge, Canada. 1957 brought their second son, Gordon, and relocation to Salt Lake City, Utah. Their daughter Ingrid was born in 1959.

Irma enjoyed her children and her home in Salt Lake. She worked at home while her children were growing up and later used her skills as a seamstress to help provide for her family. Irma was very involved in her church and community and was surrounded by caring friends with whom she shared common interests and thoughtful conversations.

Her husband, Erwin, passed away in 1983. She leaves behind her three children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Wilhelm and many nieces and nephews who still reside in Germany. She will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy.
