Toni Colleen Brown White

1943 ~ 2017

Toni Colleen Brown White, more affectionately known as Deda and Grandma Toni, passed away on May 18, 2017 after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. As was her nature in all she did in life, she fought fiercely and without complaint. But when it became clear that her mission in this life had been fulfilled, she accepted with grace and with the sharp sense of humor she possessed throughout her life her call home to heaven.

Toni was born in Springfield, Missouri to Charlie and Marie Brown on April 3, 1943. After moving with her family to Salt Lake City in 1957, she often returned to Springfield to visit her many friends and family members. She was proud of her Missouri roots.

Toni loved all people but most of all she adored her husband, Marlow, whom she married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 10, 1960. Their three children, Donnetta, Shannon, and Greg, were the focus of her life, and when they grew and had children of their own, those grandchildren became her greatest joy. She spent most of her time thinking of, traveling to, spending time with, and loving her 14 grandchildren.

Toni lived a life of service to others. She was a friend to everyone she met, but she took a special interest in the people with whom she worked for many years as a teller at several banks throughout the Salt Lake valley. She quietly looked for ways to lend a helping hand and let others know of her love and concern for them. Toni was famous for her kitchen candy basket and purse filled with goodies. No child, and many adults for that matter, left a visit with her without a treat.

Toni is survived by her loving husband Marlow, her three devoted children and their partners, Donnetta Campbell (Martha), Shannon (Erin), Greg (Heather) and her 14 grandchildren whom she considers perfect and unstoppable. She also leaves behind a sister (Jo) and three brothers (Kay, Jon and Reed), who were her closest friends. She was welcomed to heaven by her caring parents, sister Rose Marie and two beloved sisters-in-law.

Funeral services for Toni will be held on May 27, 2017 at noon, Edgehill Ward, 1750 South 1500 East, 84105.

Toni, Marlow, and their family are grateful for and extend their love and thanks to you - the countless friends, family and medical providers who have been a part of this life and her journey into the next. They are especially thankful to Dr. Wayne Ormsby and his staff for their dedicated and loving care this past year. Your efforts, care, and support were and continue to be the greatest of all gifts.
