Cynthia Tamra Karrington

1940 ~ 2016

Cynthia Tamra Karrington was born at home December 20, 1940 as the 4th of 9 children born to Ray and Ruth Lewis. She learned to love hard work at a very young age working in her father's OP Skaggs grocery store in Salt Lake City and later in the family catering business. Cindy had an eye for beauty which found expression in her beautiful floral arrangements that adorned man y weddings and receptions.

Cindy was an eternal optimist. She was no stranger to heartache and trials; losing her first born son at the age of 40, enduring multiple brain and open heart surgeries and some economic hard times. She always faced these with grace and dignity and always considered herself fortunate to have another day to be with her loved ones.

Cindy had a mischievous and unpredictable sense of humor which helped her endure the hard times and kept everyone on their toes. Even on her death bed the night before she died she saw an opportunity to scare the daylights out of an unsuspecting visitor by getting off her couch and coming after her pretending to be a zombie. She loved a party and if there wasn't one going on she would create one. She enjoyed having fun, creating fun and being fun. So many precious family memories were created because of her.

Cindy loved to shop for gifts for her children and grandchildren and she couldn't resist a bargain no matter what it was. Her teenage grandsons had to finally surrender to the fact that receiving multiple gift sets of pink perfumed bubble bath just meant she loved them.

Her greatest love was her family and if there is one gift that she gave to the world it was unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. She had a heart that knew no limits when it came to love. She would never give up on anyone she loved and believed in no matter what the circumstances and would often say, "the child who is the hardest to love, needs the most". To quote one of her grandsons, "she taught me to love, she taught me that love is the most important thing to have in life." She lived this principle and left a legacy of love that will be felt for generations. She will be sorely missed by those of us on earth who loved her and we can't help but believe there will be a little more laughter and mischief in heaven with her arrival.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Ruth Brown Lewis, sister Diane England, brother Wendell Lewis and her son Randall William Karrington Sr.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday July 13 at 11:00 am at LDS ward on 1100 East and 1700 South. Friends and family are invited to a viewing prior the service from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. There will also be a viewing for friends and family at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary the previous evening July 12 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

The family would like to offer a special heartfelt thanks to Tiffany Karrington whose careful attention to Cindy's personal and medical needs during the last years of her life undoubtedly provided all of us more years to be with her.
