Roy B Moore

Roy B. Moore, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather lost his battle with Alzheimer's Disease on 04/02/20.

Roy was born on November 14, 1939, to Alice (Anderton) and Blaine Moore of Henefer, UT. He was the first of five children. His siblings include; his sister Sherry (Bob) Jolley and three brothers; John (Diane) Moore, Rob (Chris) Moore, and Rick (Kristi) Moore.

Roy attended North Summit Elementary and High School and would often talk about his days spent fishing, hunting, and delivering newspapers throughout town on horseback with his best friend, Scott.

After serving an LDS Mission to Canada and Alaska, Roy attended Utah State on an engineering scholarship. He decided that wasn't for him. He began attending the University of Utah and successfully completed his law degree in 1970. Roy began his career at Parsons, Behle & Latimer. Then went on to form Sessions & Moore and retired under the name of Roy B. Moore, PC & Associates in 2016. He spoke often about the brilliant young minds he was able to work with, such as Barry Johnson, Paul King, Robert Olsen, Brady Rasmussen, and Peter Evans.

Roy's life passions, other than the law, were his children. He and his first wife, Lorna Bagley had three children; Jeff (Lisa) Moore, Las Vegas, NV; Jim (Kim) Moore, Layton, UT; Holly (Dean) Welch, Holladay, UT. In 1981, Roy married Phyllis "Petey" Pruett. She brought along two children; Traci (Sean) Petersen, Draper, UT and Vikki (Alistair) Legg, London. Grandpa Roy celebrated the births of each of his 8 grandsons; Kyle, Alex, Spencer, Parker, Jake, Ben, Zach, and Sawyer, and his 8 granddaughters; Sarah, AustinMarie, Olivia, Erika, Grace, Meagan, Emily, and Katie. Then came the great grandchildren; Kinsleigh, Addison, Mason, Calvin, and Ayden. Roy couldn't stop smiling when any of them were near. He supported the kids and grandkids by attending their dance recitals, sports games, and school programs. There were plenty of memories and much laughter when the entire family went on trips such as to San Diego, Jackson Hole, Mexico, and Flaming Gorge.

Roy loved to eat, travel, go to plays, and listening to music. He and Petey did a lot of each. They had unforgettable dinners in San Francisco, New Orleans, and Dallas. Plays in New York and Dublin, and music in Vienna. Roy's #1 bucket list was floating down the Danube, which he and Petey were able to complete in 2016. That trip included visiting Hungary, Austria, and Germany. In addition, Roy and Petey spent many days and nights cheering for the Jazz and the Utes. Roy was rarely found without either a Jazz or Ute shirt or hat. He was a long time supporter of both!

Roy loved his friends at Willow Creek! The golf games, the trips, the dances (always saving the polka for Donna), home parties, watching the kids in the pool and bowling. Then came the wonderful friendships and support of the Sopranos at Hidden Valley, his hole-in-one on Mountain 9 which they all celebrated! Roy served on the Board of both Country Clubs, as well as, several committees. He loved you all!

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doug Toole, a friend until the end. Also to Beehive Homes of South Jordan, and Carole at Brio Hospice for giving Roy the attention and care he so deserved.

Roy may have forgotten our names, but we are comforted in knowing that he had a great life. We will never forget him! A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
