Irmgard \"Amy\" Meyer Nielson

1937 ~ 2018

Irmgard passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 25th, after a long struggle with health issues. She was born in Bremen, Germany on September 26, 1937. During her childhood she experienced the hardship of WWII up close. Surviving day to day was a way of life. She emigrated to America in 1952 with her mother and made Salt Lake City her home. Her sister Hilda joined them one year later. She married Theron Jerold Nielson in 1956 and had four sons. She divorced Theron in 1970 and married James Leo Neilson in 1971 and had one more son. She divorced James in the early 70's and never remarried. During her life she struggled with health challenges off and on. She had a heart of gold that was treasured by all she knew.

Irmgard is preceded in death by her parents Ernst Emil Meyer and Klara Seemann Meyer Rindlisbach; step-father Lawrence Rindlisbach; sister Hilda Meyer Smith; and sons David, Steven and Richard. She is survived by sons John and James Jr. (Velvet); grandchildren Charlee Raye and James III (Sydney); great-grandson Brody James and nephew Larry Carl Smith (Debbie), as well as many beloved In-laws.
