Ruth Marie Fischer Pexton

1925 ~ 2015

Ruth Marie Fischer Pexton passed away Tuesday January 27, 2015. She was born on July 25, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Christian and Ida Fischer. Ruth graduated from South High School and from the University of Utah where she earned her Master's degree in Home Economics. She married Boyd Maurice Pexton, PhD. on July 22, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with 2 children Pamela and Scott.

Ruth was a lifelong educator teaching home economics at Hillside Jr. High School, Highland High School and the University of Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints and served in many capacities in the Monument Park Stake. She was also a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, Legislative Counsel, Aurora Club (Wives of Salt Lake City School District Administrators), Delta Gama and Lamba Delta Sigma.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Robert) Speers, son Scott (Lori) Pexton, grandsons Steve (Wendy) Speers, Ryan (Sarah) Speers, Jonathan Littlefield and Jordan Pexton, granddaughter Sister Chelsea Pexton who is currently serving a mission for the LDS Church in Morristown, New Jersey, a great grandson Steve Speers Jr., nephews Steve (Mary) Weber and Layne (Andrea) Weber. Preceded in death by her husband and her older brother Clyde Fischer.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday Feb 3, 2015 at the Monument Park 11th Ward, 1565 South Foothill Drive. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and on Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
