Sharlene Frazier Flynn

1937 ~ 2020

Sharlene Frazier Flynn, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend returned to our Heavenly Father on March 12, 2020 in the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on October 7, 1937 in Oakley, Utah. She was the only daughter of Verness W. Frazier and Wanda S. Milliner. She graduated from South High School. She was a great example of hard work and dedication, as she received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Brigham Young University after her youngest child entered elementary school.

She married D. Thomas Flynn on March 20, 1954 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. Together they had 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, with two more to be born this year.

Sharlene was a social, intelligent woman who took so much joy in serving and building relationships with the women around her. She served faithfully in many leadership callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women auxiliaries.

She was an avid reader. At 12 years of age, Sharlene made a goal to read one book per week for her entire life. She far surpassed this goal and was reading until the end of her life. She shared her love of reading and passed it on to her children and grandchildren. You cannot think of Sharlene without picturing her with a book in her hands. Sharlene also loved to cook, host dinner parties, and share her cooking talents with all. She loved the theatre and arts, both watching and performing. She was a world traveler and enjoyed many trips to places such as Asia, Ireland, Israel, Egypt, and using her nursing skills on a service trip to Morocco.

Sharlene spent decades serving the community at Alta View Hospital as a recovery room nurse. Over the years she developed many deep and lasting relationships with doctors, nurses and staff there. Above all, Sharlene loved and cherished her family. All who came in contact with her could feel of her love for them. She is survived by her children Sheryll A. Jungert, Thomas P. (Teri) Flynn, Daren B. Flynn, Mary E. (Ron) Bollschweiler, Kimberly R. (Leon) Lamoreaux, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, her brothers Robert W. Frazier, and Scott W. (Miriam) Frazier, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Tom Flynn, her parents Wanda and Verness Frazier, her brother Alton V. Frazier, and her grandson Benjamin Patrick Flynn Bollschweiler.

Although this chapter of your life has ended, because of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we know that your story continues. Till we meet again...

On Friday March 27, 2020 a viewing will be held from 1pm-3pm with a graveside service immediately to follow. (Due to COVID-19 there will be no more than 10 individuals in the room at a time) Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) Sandy, Utah.
