Our beloved mother has returned home to a joyful reunion with her Heavenly Family. Daughter of Hoyt William and Naomi Smith Brewster she also loved learning from one of God's servants, Grandpa Joseph Fielding Smith.
She said she knew she was home the first time she danced with her husband Donn R. Amott. They married in the Salt Lake Temple and together raised six children. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She taught at the Polk Elementary, Lakeridge Elementary, and Hillside Intermediate schools and was an extraordinary teacher. She considered teaching a privilege and a sacred experience. Her primary lesson was always "Solve your problem but when you need help I'm available." Her curiosity was insatiable.
She loved Christmas and was known for the many trees she kept throughout her home. She loved the Savior, his Gospel, and the scriptures and had a profound testimony which she readily sought to share with everyone she met.
She is survived by her children Steven (Camille) Amott, Jeff (Nina) Amott, Elizabeth (William) Betenson, Kelly (Lisa) Amott, Russ (Danika) Amott, and Kent (Caylee) Amott. She had twenty-one grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 6th at 11 AM at the Foothill 1st Ward (1930 S. 2100 E.) A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn (1300 E. 2350 E.) Monday, December 5th from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 AM prior to services. Interment Larkin Sunset Lawn.
