King Siu Chin Wong

1928 ~ 2017

Our beloved King Siu Wong, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2017. Born December 17, 1928, in Toishan District, Canton, China, daughter of Sherlon Chin and Li Yen Wong.

She married her mate, Ben Sang (Chin) Wong, in July 1948 and moved to San Francisco, where Ben had migrated 20 years earlier. For the next 48 years Mom loved walking to Chinatown at least twice a day to pick through the freshest produce and meat for their evening meal. Her greatest joy was socializing with her friends at the local dim sum house or playing mahjong.

In 1996 they moved to Salt Lake City to be close to family. Mom was a proud and opinionated woman who enjoyed shopping at the Chinese market, Costco, and Sam's Club so that she could cook a 7-course meal for her family every week. Even after cooking all day, she refused any help with dishes or clean up because she wanted it done the "right way." This stubbornness is what we all loved and appreciated.

Survived by sons Dennis (Rose) and Daniel; grandchildren Jason (Rachelle), Natasha (Lisi), and Natalie; great grandchildren Madison, Benjamin, Chesney, Lucy, and Rosie; and younger brothers Sum Shui Chan and Sam K. Chin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple with a viewing one hour prior from 9 am to 10 am. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 S. www.larkinmortuary.com
