Wallace Stanley Tuckfield

1929 ~ 2015

Wallace Stanley Tuckfield (Wally), age 85, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on July 3, 2015 of natural causes. He was born on October 17, 1929 to Stanley E. Tuckfield and May E. (Cartwright) Tuckfield, in Salt Lake City, UT.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Josephine "Jo" (Engel) Tuckfield and his beloved daughter, Terri Lynn Tuckfield.

He is survived by his loving son Ronald (Jan) Tuckfield, his loving daughter Tami (Mike) Oliver and loving granddaughter Brandie Jo Walton, grandsons Shane Walton and Michael Walton, granddaughter Kim (Shawn) Noble, all who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his loving sister Ruth Lofgren of Sacramento, CA, as well as sister's-in-law Mary Engel, Judy Engel, Teresa Engel and Babe Deshiro. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Wally and Jo were wed in 1952 in Elko Nevada. They were in love from the moment they met and were dedicated to providing a wonderful family life as parents. They supported their children and encouraged them to "be the best that you can be at whatever you choose to do in life and remember to follow your heart."

Wally served in the United States Air Force as a member of the 140th Communications Squad at Clovis AFB located in Clovis, NM where he attended more specialized schooling. He also was later stationed at Kessler AFB located in Biloxi, MS and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 008 Winter Haven, FL and a life-member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Wally's professional career spanned thirty-seven years as a Communications Specialist and subject matter expert for one employer, Mountain Bell Telephone. Mountain Bell Telephone was party to many mergers and acquisitions over the past five decades and is known today as CenturyLink. His expertise made him the go-to-guy among his peers. If a problem needed solving, he was the man to go to. He was well respected, very well liked and often sought after due to his can-do attitude, as well as his persistence in project management and problem solving. His love of electronics also spilled over into his hobby as an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM). He could often be found in his radio room at home talking to other HAM operators from around the world. His registered call-sign remains W7NHX to this day.

Wally loved spending time with his family. He and Jo would regularly take time for family vacations (traveling the United States) and could often be found boating where Jo would provide enough food for an army (and all of their children's friends).
