Jane Meikle Taggart

1951 ~ 2014

(Susan) Jane Meikle Taggart passed away peacefully in her home in Draper, Utah, on April 13, 2014. Jane was born in Driggs, Idaho, to Donna Peacock and Stephen M. Meikle on February 14, 1951. Jane is a Valentine girl 24-7-365. Jane is also a complete example of courage, devotion, and strength, bravely battling Multiple Myeloma cancer for 12 plus years. Confirmed in 2002, Jane survived two stem cell transplants, major treatment complications, along with bone and spinal cord destruction.

Born in South Eastern Idaho, Jane developed a love for outdoor activities. Jane excelled at snow skiing, water skiing, golf, and swimming, Jane became an accomplished recreational golfer. It proved to be more than entertainment and recreation for Jane. In 1984, Jane met future husband Todd, for a blind date of golf at Hidden Valley Country Club.

As Jane matured, she developed a solid business mind, sound administrative habits, and much desired people skills. Those would become more valuable to Jane later in life.

Jane and Todd were married, February 1, 1986 in Denver, CO. Todd had been transferred there by his employer, Titleist Golf. Two years later, Titleist again transferred the Taggart\s, this time to Tampa, FL. Jane\s skills easily landed her the manager position at a growing Tampa title company. Within 6 months, Jane was managing multiple offices and overseeing most administrative requirements in a complicated mortgage and title business. At the golf club, where Jane and Todd were members, Jane\s administrative and people skills proved extremely valuable. Jane was elected to three terms of President of the Women\s Golf Association. She was then elected to the Club\s Board of Governors, and served as Co-Golf Committee Chairman for two terms. A short time later, Jane was appointed President of the P.O.A. for the gated community where they lived. She was also elected to the community\s Community Development District, serving as C.D.D. President. Jane has always been a giver. Her Club and community positions were done because she wanted to give back and make both better, not for fame, glory, or compensation.

Jane and Todd started making significant life changes in 2008. Further desired changes and commitments enabled them to be eternally sealed on Sept. 24, 2011, in the Orlando, FL Temple. Those spiritual changes and continued desire to give back, opened the doors for Jane and Todd to serve as Office Missionaries for 6 blessing filled months, in the Florida-Tampa Mission Office, an L. D. S. Mission where long time Utah golf favorite, Bruce Summerhays, was Mission President. After twenty five years in FL, Jane and Todd moved back to Northern UT. Jane wanted to be a \"full time grand mother\" and be closer to all family members. In the twilight of Jane\s life, and even in her death bed, when Jane saw her kids and grand kids, one could see and feel the love in her heart because of the light in her eyes.

Jane is survived by husband Todd, step daughter Amy, step son Ryan (Holly), five grand children, Harrison, Madelynne, Lillian Durham, Morgan, and Hudson, sisters Jamie King, Jill (Mike) Stevens, Nancy (Fred) Luthy, Jana (Boyd) Pendleton, brothers Rick (Karen) Meikle, Jack (Laurie) Meikle, Jeff (Steve Kellam) Meikle, and Robert (Trina Garcia) Meikle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 11:00, at the South Mountain First Ward, 607 East Rocky Mouth Lane, Draper, UT. A viewing will be held the evening before from 7-9 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. There will also be a viewing Sat. at the church from 10-10:45AM.
