Judy Dee McAdam Thorn

1957 ~ 2015

Our beloved Judy Dee McAdam Thorn, passed away June 3, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was a breast cancer survivor, but returned to her Heavenly Father after a valiant fight with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. She was born February 19, 1957 to Edward and Phyllis McAdam in Los Angeles, CA. The family moved to Salt Lake City where she attended Salt Lake Community College Barber/Cosmetology School. She worked for 37 years and loved her clients like family.

Judy lived a life of service starting in high school by learning sign language and tutoring disabled children. She dedicated seven years to helping unwed mothers. She was a compassionate service leader and served a mission with the Addiction Recovery Program. She also taught group therapy classes at the prison and family group therapy with LDS Social Services.

Judy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed to Trent Thorn in the Jordan River Temple. She is survived by her husband of 30 years and their four children Brooke (Anthony) Kirk, Elliott, Shawn (Victoria) and Hailee, siblings Kathleen (Dieter) Kunkel, Laura Lewis (Brent) Jones, Brian (Yurika) McAdam and sister-in-law Deborah McAdam. Preceded in death by her brother Steven.

The desire of her heart was to live to hold her first grandchild, baby girl Kirk, two-days-old, which was a granted miracle.

During her courageous fight with cancer she was positive, uplifting and always thinking of others, especially her family.
