Kathryn Sorensen Black

1928 ~ 2014

Our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, One Special Lady, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2014. She was born in Spring City, UT on August 20, 1928 to Otto J. Sorensen and Rebecca Petersen. Her family moved to Salt Lake when she was 7. She married George Black on September 29, 1944 in Evanston, WY and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. During their retirement years, Kathryn and George enjoyed living in Hurricane, UT where they were close to their son Lester and daughter Laurie. During the last part of her life, she moved back to northern Utah where she lived with her daughter Rebecca and her husband. During this time she was able to spend time with many family members who lived close by and spent much time with her sister Violet. She is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kathryn managed a bakery for Dan\s Foods for many years and loved the people she worked with and the friends she made there. She was very loving to those she knew and to her family. In the summers, she loved spending time with her family out at the family\s property in southern Utah. Thank you to everyone at Alpha Home and Hospice who cared for Kathryn during this past year.Dearest sister of Violet Peterson.
