Bryce Christian Foster, beloved father, husband, uncle, brother, and dear friend passed away peacefully, in the company of his family and home, on May 24, 2014. Though we have been deprived of his presence, we look forward to the great family reunion in the hereafter.
Bryce suffered from a congenital brain condition known as chiari malformation, but fought courageously over nearly two decades. He endured numerous surgeries, yet remained positive and vibrant throughout.
Bryce was born in Orem, Utah, February 3, 1982. He was the oldest of three boys and was well known as the family pack leader. He was a graduate of Park City High School class of 2000 and was within a few semesters of obtaining his bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Utah.
Bryce personified his middle name by being a member of the LDS church, and holding the Melchizedek Priesthood.
Many of Bryce's closest friends and family members share fond memories of him. Above all, he was known as a caring and sincere friend, great at making others feel appreciated and included. He was also known for his smile, which could only be matched by the size of his heart. A kind and gentle soul, he continuously sought love, happiness and ways to benefit the lives of others; often in a complete state of selflessness. He was compassionate and knew well the impact of anguish. Because of his genuine goodness, he will be significantly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Bryce took Kellye Irene Slater as his wife on April 7, 2008 in Salt Lake City. Together they raised their son, Connar Jace Foster, who unquestionably was the greatest and most important achievement of Bryce while on earth. They were inseparable buddies.
Sports were an enormous part of Bryce's life. As a child he sprinted everywhere, never walking. He snowboarded and played golf, basketball, football and baseball. If he wasn't playing, he could be found either watching a game or discussing whatever headline made the sports section that day. He was an avid fan of the University of Utah, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Braves and Utah Jazz and he aspired to become a sports writer.
He is survived by his treasured wife and son; brothers, Brad and Greg Foster; mother, Cathie Jones; and father, Lynn G. Foster.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 29 at the LDS Emigration 4th Ward Chapel, 589 18th Avenue, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends and neighbors Wednesday 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple and Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ward.
