Janice LaRee Johnson Sackett

1936 ~ 2017

Janice completed her earthly calling and returned to her father in heaven in the early hours of July 19, 2017. She was lovingly welcomed by her family whom she sorely missed.

Janice was born April 28, 1936 in Logan, Utah. She was the second of two children born to LeGrand and LaRee Johnson.

Janice grew up in the island area of Logan. She had numerous fond memories of the old neighborhood. She remembered the Schvaneveldt family in particular as being like a second family to her. Janice spent many hours ice skating at central park and buying penny candy at island market.

For many years Janice was involved with ballet and tap dancing taught by Moveda Cardon. She performed in numerous dance recitals. Janice also took piano lessons and enjoyed playing for her father.

Janice attended Wilson elementary and Logan Jr. High. She is a 1954 graduate of Logan Senior High School. Janice was on the type team, and was awarded several pins for typing speed. She also attended Utah State Agricultural College.

Early on, Janice learned the value of hard work. She worked for the family business, Johnson Sand and Gravel, later called LeGrand Johnson Construction Company. She can remember that at a young age, she was stuffing and sealing envelopes as well as accompanying her mother on bill collecting duties. She remained involved in the business throughout the years. It was her life.

Janice married Richard W. Sackett on August 3, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. Janice was a tremendous mother, and always went the extra mile for her girls. Her most endearing role was that of grandmother and great-grandmother. She simply adored her little ones. She handed out hugs and kisses in abundance. Her handwritten cards, surprise bags, and daily phone calls will be sorely missed. One thing is for certain, that her family knew she loved them, and she told them daily. Her love was unconditional.

Janice was a people person. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, meet as strangers, and come away as friends.
