Jed E Henrie

1931 ~ 2015

Having enjoyed a life filled with faith, love, and service, our husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called back to his heavenly home on March 20, 2015. Until we meet again, we will cherish the many moments, now sweet memories, we shared with him.

Jed was the son of Usher James and Freeda Judd Henrie. He was the fourth of six children (Usher, Doug, Jim, Jed, Fern, and baby Judd). He spent many summers during his childhood living out of a sheep wagon while caring for his family's sheep as they grazed in mountain meadows. Jed graduated from Panguitch High School, in 1949, and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during the Korean War on the aircraft carrier USS Essex. While stationed in San Diego, California, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Anne Whitney, who he married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity, in 1954. After being honorably released from the United States Navy, Jed obtained a business degree from the University of Utah, then earned his CPA and began his career in accounting.

Jed and Dorothy settled in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where they raised their six children. Jed was a loving husband and father who devoted his life to his family. He will always be remembered for priesthood and fathers blessings, family prayer, scripture study, family home evenings and family vacations and other adventures that enriched their lives. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jed was a devoted home teacher and loved missionary work. He served faithfully in all callings and assignments, including Stake High Councilman, Bishopric Counselor, Ward Missionary and Young Men's Presidency Counselor.

Jed is survived by his wife Dorothy; his children, Jed E. Henrie, Jr. (Linda Ann), DeAnne Henrie Sweeney (Karl), Daniel Whitney Henrie (Danette), John Paul Henrie (Debbie), Cheri Irene Henrie VanWagner (Rob), Teresa Henrie Fisher (Jason); 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Butler 4th Ward, 6634 South Greenfield Way, Cottonwood Heights, where friends and family may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
