Neita Deane Sparkman Davis

1921 ~ 2017

Neita Deane Sparkman Davis unexpectedly ended her mortal journey on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the age of 95. Born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on July 23, 1921, Neita was the only child of Fama Pratt and Reuben Hanes Sparkman.She grew up in Washington D.C. and attended George Washington University and The National Art School on a scholarship.

Neita married Lavoi at the Reno Army Air Base on September 11, 1944. She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 12, 1945, by Lavoi Blackham Davis. Neita and Lavoi were later sealed in the Manti Temple on July 12, 1946, and have been married for 72 years. She served faithfully in many church callings in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women organizations. Neita and Lavoi served two missions together for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As the wife of an Air Force pilot, Neita moved more than 33 times before settling with her family in Salt Lake City, Utah.She is an unsung hero, raising their children mostly on her own while Lavoi fulfilled his military and church responsibilities.

Survived by her husband and 5 children: Lynn Lavoi Davis (Suzanne), Kristine Adele Chabries (Michael), Ben Fredric Davis (Dorothy), Kathleen Genevieve Hemingway, and Michael Jared Davis (Vivian).

There will be a viewing from7:00-8:30 p.m.onTuesday, January 31, at the Federal Heights Chapel in Salt Lake City, Utah, 1300 Fairfax Road.There will be a viewing onWednesday, February 1, from9:30-10:45at the Federal Heights Chapel followed by the funeral at11 a.m.Interment will be at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.

Our family and especially our dad want to express our deepest appreciation for the great firemen and paramedics who worked so valiantly to try and save mother's life at the end. We also want to thank Officer Nathan Swensen and his partner for their compassion and efforts to assist the family.

We love you Mom and will miss you so much.Thank you for living a life worthy of emulation.
