Janice Buchanan Edwards

1933 ~ 2016

Janice passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Friday, October 21, 2016 at her avenues home in SLC, surrounded by her husband and family. She was born September 16, 1933 in SLC, where she lived most of her life. Janice married Bill (H. William) Edwards on April 15, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their six children on the avenues.

The miseries of cancer were her constant companion throughout many of her adult years, yet she went about life without complaint, raising her family and being of service to others.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings in the primary and relief society, including seven years as the Relief Society President of Ensign Stake.

Janice and Bill served several missions together. First on Welfare Square in SLC; then in California, Fresno; followed by the Illinois, Nauvoo mission. At the time of her passing she was serving as the sacrament meeting pianist at the City Creek Post Acute Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, their children Mike (Debbie), Steve (Shelley), Jim (Roslyn), Laurie (Rich Canfield), Bobby (Susan), Wally (Lisa); 35 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sisters Marlene and Lois. Preceded in death by her sister Betty and her parents, David A. and Ruth Smith Buchanan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29th at the Emigration 4th Ward chapel, 589 18th Avenue at 12:00, with visitation from 10:30 ‚ 11:45am. There will also be a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
