Debra Read was born on May 8, 1955 in Salt Lake City, UT toRichard and Kathleen Tye Donelson. She has one sister, Denise. She graduated from Olympus High School and later from the University of Utah, Magna Cum Laude in English. While in school she met her sweetheart and eternal companion Michael Read andthey were married September 23, 1981 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
They were blessed with four sons: Gregory, Zachary (deceased),Benjamin (stillborn), and Phillip. In 2016 their first grandchild, Jackson, was born to Gregory and his wife Cassidy.
Debbie loved art and literature and spent over 30 years workingin various roles at Deseret Book. She later spent several years working as an office assistant at an early childhood intervention program in Salt Lake.
Debbie loved people and was much loved in return. She was not only caring to her own family, but to all of her extended family and friends.Shemade a special effort to remember special events in each of our lives.
Debbie peacefully passed away in her sleep at home on May28, 2018 from complications of Type 1 diabetes.In the months prior to her passing she enjoyed her retirementby planting dozens of flower pots and hanging bird feeders on the deck by her bedroom. She enjoyed sitting in the warm sun and watching Jackson play. She and Jackson shared a special bond and loved to read to each other. While she will be greatlymissed she is happily freed from her mortal body and reunited with her loving husband and children who have passed on before.
Funeral services will be heldSaturday, June 9th, beginningat12 noonat the Brighton 3rdWard,2301 E. Bengal Blvd. in Cottonwood Heights. A viewing will be held prior to services beginning at10 AM.Intermentwill be at Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The American Diabetes Association.
