John Edwin Sumner Robson

1957 ~ 2014

Earlier this week, John Edwin Sumner Robson, our beloved husband and father passed away unexpectedly while pursuing his love of the outdoors. John and RuthAnn Beutler were married December 28, 1981 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. He built his life upon the gospel of Jesus Christ and around his family. His greatest joy came from spending time and traveling with his wife, four children, and three grandchildren. An avid runner, cyclist, and hiker he knew no greater happiness than spending time outside with his family. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served diligently in all his callings. At the time of his passing he and RuthAnn were serving as missionaries in the Inner City Project. It was a calling that they enjoyed and they were grateful for the time they were able to serve together. His genuine kindness, sense of humor and love of life blessed all those who knew John.

John was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1957 to R. Thayne and Lou Jean Robson. He is the fourth of eight children. John served in the Guatemala City, Guatemala Mission. He attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a BS in Finance and Juris Doctor degrees. A courteous and knowledgeable professional, he practiced law for over 30 years with Fabian and Clendenin in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed his career, and his association with the firm and members of the legal community.

John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife RuthAnn Beutler Robson, his children: Katie Thomas (James), Peter Robson, Anne Marie Smock (Daniel), and Benjamin Robson, his step-mother: Jeanne Robson, his siblings: LuDean Robson, Elizabeth Romney (Steven), James Robson (Angie), Carolyn Blatter (Bill), Rebecca Worley (Chris), Cheryl Callaghan (Michael), Angela Wade (Ken), and his three cherished grandchildren.
