Jed Donald Stoddard

1958 ~ 2017

Jed Donald Stoddard, beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, passed away in the arms of his wife surrounded by his sons and family on December 28, 2017 in West Jordan, Utah at the age of 59. The son of Donald J. and Virginia Peterson Stoddard, Jed was born on November 20, 1958 in Murray, Utah.

Jed met the love of his life, Vivian, when he was 19. They dated for two years when she proposed to him. Jed was an involved and dedicated father to their three sons. Jed coached numerous teams including, Jr. Jazz, Kearns American Babe Ruth, and West Jordan Babe Ruth. He loved sports; including bowling, baseball, basketball and the Utah Jazz. His passions included woodworking, dancing, shooting guns, and listening to music. His happiest times were spent teaching and spending time with his three boys. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family. Jed was an amazing father, and set a remarkable example to his sons. But most of all, we will miss Jed's one of a kind big bear hugs.

He is survived by his wife Vivian, children: Joshua Donald Stoddard (Crystal), Andrew Vincente Stoddard (Anna), Jake Richard Stoddard (Alyssa), grandchildren: Peyton Rose Stoddard, Kendra Marie Stoddard, Rilyn Jade Stoddard, siblings: Richard Stoddard (Cecelia), Kathleen Nelson (Roger), Judy Hyde (Philip) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A vigil will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4th at 11:00 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3560 West 3650 South, West Valley City, with a visitation to begin at 10:00 AM. Committal service to follow at West Jordan City Cemetery.
