Elthura Kimball Davis

1925 ~ 2016

Elthura Kimball Davis passed away on June 16, 2016 age 91 from a stroke in South Jordan, Utah .

She was born March 1, 1925 Smithfield, Cache, Utah daughter of Vernon Alma Kimball Sr. and Ruby Griffiths. She married Billy Eugene Davis January 9, 1944 Independence, Jackson, Missouri. Survived by son, Kimball (Kristine), daughter-in-law, Cathie (Bob) Owens, grandchildren: Aaron, Tyler, Collin, Spencer, Kimberly, Robert, Rebecca, 15 great grandchildren, sisters, Jackie Catmull, Ruby Francis, Wilma Morgan, Pat Cook, brother Vernon Kimball. Preceded in death by parents, son Stephen Dale and brother Guy William Kimball Sr. daughter-in-law Shirley Jean Davis.

Elthura was an accomplished opera singer. She performed with the Utah Opera Company and in many opera houses in Europe. She taught private voice lessons to many students in the Salt Lake Valley Elthura was a medical researcher at the University of Utah. She worked for Hallmark and was an accomplished illustrator and painter. Her hobbies included painting, crocheting afghans, needlepoint, fishing, recording operas and the computer. She spent many years taking care of her father, mother, husband and son while they were ill. These acts of service showed a real love that she had for them. She served in various callings in the LDS Church.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) in Sandy. A viewing will be held the same day from 10-11:45 am at the mortuary.
