Maxine Sessions Kummer

1924 ~ 2017

Maxine Sessions Kummer, age 93, passed peacefully and returned home May 27, 2017. Maxine was born on March 19, 1924 in Park City Utah, the ninth of twelve children born to Adolphie and Chloe Sessions. Maxine married Gail C. Kummer on November 26, 1946, and they spent over 70 years as devoted sweethearts.

Maxine had an amazing work ethic and was not one with idle hands. Her employment history included numerous waitressing jobs in Park City and Heber. She later worked a number of years at McDonald's Candy Company, O. C. Tanner Jewelers and Abbott Labs. She was a compassionate soul and dedicated her life to the service of others. She filled numerous church callings in service positions and was happiest when helping others. Maxine was renowned for her sewing and needlework. Throughout the years, she filled closets with heirloom afghans, shawls and baby blankets.

She is survived by her husband Gail, son Gary Mason (Cheryle), daughter Gay Lynn Johnson (Kelly) and son Randy Kummer (Lynda); eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; eleven siblings; a grandson, Scott Mason; and a great-granddaughter, Shayna Mason.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2 at 11:00 AM at the LDS East Millcreek 9th Ward in Holladay, UT -- 3750 South Hillside Lane (2600 East). A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, June 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at the Park City Cemetery.
