We feel certain our mother, Marian Hoggan Blunt Huffaker, was greeted by her eternal sweetheart, Alton and daughter, Paula, as she peacefully passed away, Tuesday, August 6, 2013, the day before her 90th birthday.
Mom was born in Salt Lake City to Henry Alvah Blunt and Alice Louise Hoggan. She married Alton W. Huffaker January 2, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 58 years before dad's passing and raised seven children: Todd (Maureen), Tim (Peggy), Meg (Craig), Paula (Brian), Tawnie (Keith), Melanie (Stan), Ford (Paula).
Mom lived a life of selfless service to dad, her children, thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren. She served tirelessly giving to others until her frail body had nothing left to give. Mom spent years working in the Relief Society, Primary and serving the members of the Laotian Branch. In her spare time, she made hundreds of baby quilts for the LDS Humanitarian Center. Mom served missions with dad in New York and the Swiss Temple. She also served many years in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mom loved her Savior; her faith and testimony were a strength and pattern of living for her posterity. We love and cherish you and look forward to an eternal family reunion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the Capitol Hill 2nd Ward, 413 N West Capitol Street, Salt Lake City. Prior to the funeral, there will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
