Gene was born in Ogden to Riley E. and Mary J. Eldredge Hess, and attended schools in Salt Lake City. He joined the US Navy and served on the USS Missouri during the Korean Conflict. Gene retired from Hill Air Force Base and Varian Corp. X-ray Division.
Survived by wife of 60 years; Claudia Holding Hess, children; Debbie (Chris) Bennett, Brenda (Gary) Treadway, Lee (Nancy) Hess, Merrilee (Mike) White, 10 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, sister; Mary Lynne Barlow, and brother; Elwood Watts. Preceded in death by parents, grandson Robert Carrier and two brothers. A very special thanks to Merrilee and Mike for all the help and care they provided for mom and dad!
