Irvin Bruce Chaffin passed away February 24, 2017. He was born February 6, 1927 in Sutherland, Utah, to Mabel Wright Chaffin and Melvin Hunter Chaffin. He grew up on a farm in Hinckley, Utah, surrounded by many extended family members. He served in the United States Army from 1945-47 stationed in Italy. After his military service, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Southern States Mission, mainly in Alabama, from 1948-50. He then attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He worked for Boeing in Seattle for a time, but spent the majority of his working years as a science teacher at Bonneville Junior High. He also served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life, and enjoyed golfing, doing family history work, and watching BYU sports.
On June 16, 1967 he married Beverly Jean Harrison in the Salt Lake Temple. Irv loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his children Stacie (Matthew) Mason, and Kyle (Rebecca) Chaffin; and his eight grandchildren Kylie, Emily, Jack, Hannah, Ellie, Tycen, Rachel, and Toby. The family wishes to thank Reid\s Park Place Assisted Living for their wonderful and kind care the last six years of his life.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service for Irv on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah with a viewing prior from 12:00-1:30 pm.
