Austin came into this life with the ambitions of a giant. His most genuine quality was his love and respect for family and friends. His true passion was basketball. As a little kid he would not leave a basketball alone. He would play for hours on end in his driveway until he perfected his shot. His friends even called him 3-point Austin….because he rarely missed. He also loved to see his sister and brother excel in basketball and would practice with Kari for hours before her tryouts to help her get rid of the butterflies. Austin always said he could take them both on. His father taught Austin, Kari and Delaney how to ski and snow board. Austin became an incredible snow boarder. His family purchased season passes to their favorite ski resort where they enjoyed the season as a family. Austin loved to help his brother and sister and was willing to do anything they asked of him. Austin was a very proud brother. Later in his life he shared his father's passion of muscle cars, motor cycles and boats. His most prized possession was the race boat and he always loved the time spent on the lake with Pops! He loved to do anything that had to do with the outdoors. He couldn't be inside for more than ten minutes at a time before he was off doing something else he loved. Austin was a gifted artist and created beautiful, unique pieces of art. He spent much of his spare time writing poetry of his life's experiences.
My Son,
I believe a journey begins at the end of this worldly existence ‚ where the trials of this life are resolved into peace and your soul has found its way to the light. And while I am mourning my loss -- your heavenly family rejoiced in meeting you behind the veil. I look forward to being reunited once again‚Ķ I love you, Pops.
Austin is survived by his father, David B. Uncles; siblings Kari M. and Delaney J. Uncles, many loving grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Danette M. Gayler, mom Michelle Uncles, Don Gayler, Diane Carlyle, and grandparents.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple.
