Richard Warren Tippets

Richard Warren Tippets, 91, died April 27, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born May 9, 1923, Preston, Idaho, to Hyrum and Josephine Waldron Tippets. Raised in Logan, Utah, where he played quarterback on the Logan High School football team. Married Francis Hayward September 18, 1946, Logan, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and skiing especially with his family. Was happy, fun-loving, and well-liked. Member LDS Church. Held the office of High Priest at the time of his death. Served in the U.S. Navy as a gunners' mate in World War II and participated in the invasion of Okinawa and other wartime actions in the Pacific theater. Graduate University of Utah with a degree in marketing. Member Sigma Chi fraternity. Industrial salesman for Crane Supply Co. in the plumbing and heating business. Served on the finance committee of the corporation and became manager of the Utah branches. Longtime member Hidden Valley Country Club. Loved his wife and cared tenderly for her during the last years of her life. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors: four children, Carol (R. Ben) Nilsen, Janet Small, Dr. Richard H. (Kristi) Tippets, Gregory C. Tippets, all Salt Lake City, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife and brother Ernest W. Tippets.

Funeral services Saturday, May 2, 11:00 a.m., Foothill Stake Center, 1933 South 2100 East. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Friday, May 1, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. or 10:00 to 10:45 at the stake center prior to the service. Burial Preston (Idaho) City Cemetery.
