"The man. The myth. The legend. Men wanted to be him and most women wanted to be with him but his petite, ornery wife, Sherry, threatened them all. Robert "Drew" Moren passed away on September 12, 2017. Concerned of reading obituaries that noted "someone's brave battle with death", Drew wanted it known that he died as a result of being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors' orders, doing what he wanted to do (because he was always right)and raising hell for more than seven decades. Until the day he passed away, Drew enjoyed guns, his Corvette, his two boys, his grandchildren and a younger woman(even if Mom was only 2 years younger) and of course being right (all of the time), not necessarily in that order."
Drew retired after 30 years as a Special Agent with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Drew attended the University of Utah and received a degree in Political Science. He completed studies in Criminal Law and Public Administration with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) through the University of Maryland.
As a Special Agent he was best known for working covert and black operations both domestic and international. During his career he was DEA's Director of Domestic Academic Training for Special Agents at the National Academy. He was in charge of creating and directing the drug training program for Special Agents in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Special Agent in charge of the Task Force Operations in San Antonio, Texas and was in charge of the Cheyenne, Wyoming Office.
Drew retired as Special Agent in Charge of the Salt Lake City, Utah, Rocky Mountain Division. He was an Adjunct Professor at the Salt Lake Community College in the Criminal Justice Department.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place Saturday, September 23, 2017 at The Chateau at The Rose Shop, 1910 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy from 12-2 PM.
In honor of Drew, he requested for donations to the "Memorial Fund" at SLCC in the Criminal Justice Department for needy students.
