Delbert Lee Hansen

1931 ~ 2016

Delbert Lee Hansen, 85 passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his daughter\s home.

Lee was born April 28, 1931 in Mills, Utah to Louis Manervan and Tressa (Love) Hansen. He graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah. He served on the USS Yorktown during the Korean War. He later earned a degree as an Electronic Technician. His job allowed him to travel the world, the past thirty-two years he lived in Korea working as a Flight Simulation Field Engineer. Even though dad was away from his family, he felt it was his way of keeping us safe here at home.

We are thankful for the wonderful friends he made while away from us. He enjoyed his work so much and only retired last year. Since retiring dad spent many hours refurbishing his home and yard, Dad had mastered tinkering and puttering.

Lee is survived by his children, Lynnette Mickelsen and her husband Dan, Patrick Hansen and his wife Jana, and Shazzanna Chorn and her husband Corey; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother and sisters; Leslie, Marie, and Zella as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sister; Ladd, Louis, Butch, and Paula. He married Afton Miller, later divorced.

We would like to thank Andrea Walkenhorst and those special hands that so tenderly cared for dad\s needs keeping him comfortable and clean shaven. We are grateful for the love and support shown to dad and his children during this time. We will always remember the veil is thin and this separation is only temporary.

A celebration of life service will be held 6:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Larkin Mortuary-Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah, 84065. Military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be presented at 6:00 p.m. As per dad\s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project.
