Paul Jackson Jenkins Sr.

1932 ~ 2017

Our beloved Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather Paul Jackson Jenkins passed away on November 7, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Paul was born to William Walter Jenkins and Eva Dalyrmple Jenkins on March 17, 1932 in Bryson City, North Carolina. He married his sweetheart Veloy Jensen in Ely, Nevada.

Paul grew up in the Smoky Mountains, where his parents and family built a house in Bryson City, NC. Paul served as an Army sergeant in the Korean War between 1951 and 1954. After the war, while passing through Utah to see the Salt Flats, Paul met the love of his life, Veloy Jensen, whose side he never left. Paul worked as a machinist at CBI for 30 years, but his true passions were his family and his community. Over the years Paul eagerly served in many worthy roles, including SLPD school traffic guard, Civil Patrol volunteer, ham radio operator (whose handle was Tarheel), and Neighbor Helping Neighbor member. Paul was an uncommonly kind man who always gave more than he expected in return and whose compassion and easy sense of humor built people up throughout his life. In short, Paul made the world and the lives of everyone around him better than when he found them, but now he's off to rejoin his beloved Veloy. He was a member of the LDS church and was recently ordained an elder. He and Veloy will be posthumously sealed.

Survived by: Children Carolyn (Rick) Gulbransen, Mary (Kevin) Rust, Paul Jenkins (Randolph), Jeff Jenkins, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and brother Jackie Jenkins. Preceded in death by: Wife Veloy Jenkins, parents William and Eva Jenkins, six brothers and two sisters.
