Paul Dennis Bawden

1946 ~ 2014

Brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away September 1, 2014. Born December 22, 1946, Paul was raised in Magna, Utah, and was educated at Cyprus High School and the University of Utah. He also served in the Marine Corps. For more than four decades, he worked at Kennecott Copper in ore haulage and on the railroad. On April 24, 1976, Paul married Beverly Carruth in the Salt Lake Temple. Paul and Beverly raised their five children in Cottonwood Heights. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings, including in Scouting, Young Men's, High Priests, and on the High Council. His greatest love was his family. He was proud of his family's accomplishments, especially that all of his children were college graduates. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, horses, homemade ice cream, and Rebecca's Chocolates. Outgoing, hardworking, and generous, he had a big heart and loved people. Despite his health challenges, Paul's faith was unshakable.

Paul is survived by his wife Beverly; children: Alyssa (Matthew) Grow, Camille (Patrick) Phillips, Kyle (Dana) Bawden, Jamin (Katrina) Bawden, Ethan (Brooke) Bawden; ten grandchildren; brother Don; and sister Kathy. Preceded in death by his parents Don Jay Bawden and Vivian May Benson; and brother Neil. Paul and his family and friends thank his wife for her tender, loving, and devoted care during his courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer.
