Gladys Call

1926 ~ 2016

Our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend passed away on July 15th, 2016. She was born in Kimberly, Idaho to Albert F. McEwen, Jr. and Melvina Matthews. She moved to Salt Lake City with her family in 1953, lived in Holladay for 43 years then moved to a beautiful condominium in downtown Salt Lake. She was married to Ray W. Call in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He passed away in 1972, and she subsequently raised her youngest son by herself.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many callings throughout her life.

She attended BYU and the University of Utah. She retired from the University of Utah School of Medicine, then worked for several years in the LDS Church Office Building. She was known for her dedication and hard work.

She loved music, directing music and sang many solos. She was a member of the BYU chorus and her local LDS Church choir for 60 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, raking leaves and having family dinners and parties.

Gladys is survived by her four children: Sheryl Wray (Jeryl) residing in Lindon, UT; Carlene Blackham (Ross) residing in South Jordan, UT; Eldon Call (Nan) residing in Fruit Heights, UT and Scott Call (Donna) residing in Gilbert, AZ. She has 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Private family services will be held to honor Gladys and her life on Friday, July 22nd.
