Michael Reed Allsop

1955 ~ 2014

Reed Allsop passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of November 8, 2014. He was born on June 16, 1955 to Lewis and Dorothy Allsop in Murray, Utah. Reed graduated from Jordan High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation he married Lorraine Mathie Olsen on June 21, 1973. Together they had 6 children who became Reed's whole world. In 1991, Reed and Lorraine divorced and he then became the single father of all 6 of his kids. He never faltered in his duties as a father and worked tirelessly every day to provide for his family. On February 14, 1992, he married the love of his life Diane Johnson Allsop and for the past 22 years they have stood by each other's side and worked to raise a newly blended family of 12 children. Reed never hesitated at the thought of taking on 6 more kids and from day one he loved and adored each of them as his own. There was never a his and hers when it came to the whole clan it was always ours. Reed had many passions in life, among his favorites were camping and fishing and just being in the outdoors. He loved all animals and seemed to have a special way with them. In his professional life, he spent many years as a Deputy Sheriff in Washington County and a Policeman in Blanding, Utah. After leaving law enforcement he began working for SkyWest Airlines in 1986 where he worked for 28 years.

Reed is survived by his mother-in-law Juanita Johnson, siblings Ann (Arnold), Bill (Vivian), Edna (Lynn); his wife Diane and his children Angie (James), Brandon (Jody), Amy, Michael (CJ), Danny (Shannon), Lisa (Jimmy), Daniel (Stacey), Stephanie (Thomas), Meagan (Dwaine), Cameron (Elizabeth), Teresa and 28 grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister in law Charles and Eileen Allsop; and son Benjamin Allsop.

Reed was such a kind and loving man who brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. Death is not the end so we will not say goodbye . . . we will say live, laugh, and love until we meet again.
