Keith Louis Myers

1928 ~ 2015

It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend.

Keith was born in Salt Lake City to LeRoy Witcher Myers and Jesse Campbell Pratt. He grew up in Salt Lake City but moved to Omaha, NE as a teenager. He graduated high school at the age of sixteen. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine; once just after WWII and was called up again to serve in the Korean War. He met an attractive, brunette car-hop, from Blanding, Utah during a stop at an AandW drive-in one night after a baseball game in 1948. He was instantly smitten and fell head over heels in love. She was taken with his handsome smile and his other fine qualities, especially his quick wit and great sense of humor. He married that girl, Erma Hurst, on St. Patrick's Day in 1949. Together they raised seven children; Russell (Stephanni), Scott (Debra), David (Terry), Conie Mangum (Todd), Jeanne Stockman, Paul, Carol Nielsen (Corey). He loved his 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He enjoyed his career as a civil engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and retired after more than 30 years of service. He loved sports and delighted in playing and coaching baseball. He was a passionate Cincinnati Reds, BYU and Utah Jazz fan. He was always supportive of his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. He and Erma fulfilled a mission to the San Diego Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center and together served as temple workers for many years.

During his battle with dementia over the past few years he was lovingly and patiently cared for by his devoted wife of nearly 66 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Roy and Dean, and his sister Elaine Black. He is survived by his wife and seven children.

The family wishes to thank his kind neighbors, friends and the staff of Wentworth at Draper and Summit Home Health and Hospice and all of the wonderful caregivers and doctors who cared for him.
