Dorothy Louise Means

1917 ~ 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Dorothy \"Dotty\" Means age 97, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2015 in Draper, Utah. Dotty was born on November 9, 1917 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to William Edward and Elizabeth Horner Stevens. She married Howard "Chief" Means in West Virginia and later they were sealed on the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1963.

Our Nana grew up in West Virginia and moved to California as a young wife and mother. There she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her family, eventually migrating to Utah to be near her family and grandchildren.She was an avid letter writer, keeping correspondence with some friends for over 6 decades.She loved gardening and flowers and could get African Violets to bloom when no one else could.She loved to cook and blessed countless lives with her German Chocolate Cake.She was an avid sports fan, never missing a Utah Jazz or BYU ball game.Dotty worked hard her entire life and counted her time serving a mission with her husband in Winter Quarters, Nebraska as one of the highlights of her life.

Dotty will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Lowell Snow, 7 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by: Husband, Howard; son, Richard; and 5 siblings.

Funeral services for Dotty will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Falcon Hill LDS Ward Building, 2130 East, Gryfalcon Drive (10000 South), Sandy, Utah, where friends and family may call on Friday morning from 9:45a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
