Dolores Joyce Jacobsen Crandall

1929 ~ 2017

Dolores Joyce Jacobsen Crandall, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017 surrounded by loved ones in Salt Lake City. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all.

Dore was born October 20, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Maxwell Jacobsen and Neeltje Anna Maria Fluit, and was the third of seven children. She married William Howard Crandall on June 30, 1953 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had four children; Sharon, Brent, Susan, and Ryan. Dore was raised in Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School and later attended the University of Utah.

Dore was a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. She was proprietress of The Works Floral and Gift which she ran for over 30 years after having started it with her daughter in the late 70\s; later, she was joined by her sister Barbara. Dore\s artistic talents flourished with the prolific creation of exquisitely arranged florals which delighted countless recipients from prom dates to brides to corporate offices. She possessed boundless energy and found great joy in sharing her talents.

Dore is survived by her children, Sharon Crandall Ashcraft, Brent (Teri) Crandall, Susan (Tracy) Stocking, and Ryan (Shannon) Crandall; 20 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older brother Paul Jacobsen and younger sister Barbara Richins. She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Nell, husband Howard, three brothers Jerry, Robin, Doug, and sister Maxine.

A viewing will be heldFridayevening,July 14th, from6pm to 8pmat Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South. Graveside services will be held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and "N" Street,on Saturdayat11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Stroke Association or the American Cancer Society.
