Gladys Ardella Johnson Manning Pater passed away September 8, 2017 in Sandy, UT of congestive heart failure. She was born November 6, 1921 in Salt Lake City, UT to Arthur Rasmus Johnson and Margaret Mary Paulus Dornberger. She graduated from West High School in 1940. In December 1941, Gladys married Max C. Manning in Yuma, AZ. Max passed away in 1984. She married Jan Pater in Salt Lake City, UT in February 1986. Jan passed away in 2005. Gladys was a lifelong member of the LDS church. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, sewing, cooking, music and flying her American flag.
Gladys is survived by Lynn (Carolyn) Miller, their 2 children and spouse and 2 grandchildren; Randal (Cheryle) Manning, their 4 children and spouses and 5 grandchildren; Michele (Jim) Hunt, their 2 children and spouses. She is preceded in death by Max 1984, Jan 2005, daughter Carolyn 2014, both parents and all siblings; Katherine Higley, Margaret Henry, Arthur Johnson, Joyce Taylor, LeRoy Johnson. The family gives a special thanks to Brighton Home Health and Hospice as well as Sunrise Assisted Living in Sandy. You all genuinely received her as part of your family. The love and respect so freely given her cannot be repaid. In lieu of flowers, please consider Red Cross Disaster Relief or Convoy of Hope.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. Visitation 1 hour prior to memorial. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
