Hal LaMar Memmott was born in Nephi, Utah, April 20, 1929. He was the oldest child of Cleon and Marion Pyper Memmott. He passed away peacefully at home December 19, 2015.

His early life on the farm taught him the value of hard work, a quality for which he was well known.

Hal graduated from Juab High School. He served a mission for the LDS church in the Western States Mission and then in the Army during the Korean conflict in the Counter Intelligence Corps.

He attended the University of Utah on an academic scholarship and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He had a successful career as a chemical engineer working for various companies including Utah-Idaho Sugar, El Paso Natural Gas, and Northwest Pipeline.

He married Doris V. Anderson in the Salt Lake Temple on July 1, 1963 and they have been happily married for 52 years.

Hal was a member of the LDS church. He faithfully served as ward financial clerk for over 25 years and also worked at the Salt Lake Temple for 5 years.

Nobody loved life more than Hal. He loved skiing at Alta, boating at Bear Lake, deer hunting on Mt. Nebo, motorcycle riding in the west desert, snorkeling in Hawaii and camping in the infamous motor home. He loved eating chocolate, Snelgrove ice cream, playing tennis and golf and more chocolate. He cherished time with his dear friends from SFOEM club.

Above all, he was dedicated to his family. He spent countless hours with his grandkids supporting them at plays, games, recitals, etc. His honesty, sense of humor and concern for others will be remembered and sorely missed.

Preceded in death by his brother Carl (Loree), he is survived by his wife Doris, children Heidi, Jim (Stephanie) and Cory (Alison), sister Ann (Dee Oldroyd), brother Mark (Liz), sister Marjorie (Warren Kiggins) and 9 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please buy a box of quality chocolates and share it with your loved ones in his memory.
