Sandy, Utah ‚ H. Maurice (Maury) Ballif, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, athlete, outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15. Maurice passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.He was 84 years old.
Maury was born April 2, 1934, to Howard Maurice Ballif and Madge Peterson Ballif in Boise, Idaho.He was the oldest of four children. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Swiss Austria mission, where he developed a love of languages and culture.
A self-taught musician, Maury could pick up almost any instrument and play by ear.
He was a graduate of Brigham Young University where he lettered in tennis—his lifelong sport. Maury also served in the United States Air Force.
Maury married Pauline Richardson on January 25, 1963.They have six children.They served two service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, and children Heidi Walker (Nico), Melinda Odencrantz (George), Scott (Amanda), Paul (Tina), Matt (Joni), Andrea Martinez (Ray), 25 grandchildren, brothers John Paul(Donna-Deceased), Barr(Rowena), and sister Margot(Larry).
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Joanna, nephew Mark and niece Mimi.
A public viewing will be held Friday, December 28, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Cameo Park Ward, 8945 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah. Saturday, December 29, the funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am at the same location.A viewing will precede the services from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be at Benjamin Cemetery, 9000 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Utah at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Aid Fund or Huntsman's Cancer Institute.
