Richard J. Perry

1936 ~ 2017

Our father, brother, grandpa, papa great, uncle and friend, Richard J. Perry, a remarkable man of devotion, courage and compassion, returned to the arms of his loving sweetheart of 62 years on June 22, 2017.

The hero of our stories was born on September 19, 1936 to William S. Perry and Clarice A. Moulton. When he was born he had an older brother, Steve, who showed him the ropes of life. It was he and Steve against the world. A few years later his sister Nanette joined their family.

Dick's story quickly changed to a love story when he met and married our mom, Laneta Colleen Jarrad. They were married on April 28, 1953 at the young age of 16. Our dad acquired a job, also at 16, at Kennecott where he stayed until he retired after 41 years. He made many life-long friends there, which he spoke of often.

Together our parents raised 4 children: Richard J. (Julie), Ed (Kristi), Jilleen (David), and Tadijana Nichol (Troy). Our dad shared his passion of the outdoors by taking us on many adventures. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, archery and just plain being anywhere his family was. Later in life he found a new love ‚ golf.

Dick is survived by his children, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, his sister Janet Piep and brothers, Ronald, Leon and Glen Perry. All of whom loved him more than words can express.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) in Sandy. Friends and family may attend viewings on Thursday, June 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. both at the mortuary.
