William L. Cone Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2015. William was born on February 3, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri to William L. Cone Sr. and Daisy Aleshire Cone. William grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He was drafted into the Army Air Corp at the age of 19. He was stationed in Grizzly Peak, California and later stationed in Camp Kearns, Utah. William joined the Salt Lake City Police Department in 1951 and retired in 1988. He married his first wife Ruby Bagley. They had six children, they later divorced. William married Betty Ju on October 9, 1975. He gained two step children and had a daughter with Betty. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and garden.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty and children, Jerry (Debbie), Charlene (Salva), Boyd (Marie), Pat (Blair), Sherrie, Clark (Julie), Steven Grotepas (Roxanna), Sue Street (Kelly), Joy (Jeremy). He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in his death by his parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 am prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
