Beth Aleen Erickson

1920 ~ 2018

Beth A. Erickson passed away on August 16th of natural causes, incident to age. Beth was born August 2, 1920 in Castle Dale, Utah to Samuel Richard and Pearl Peterson Johnson. She was later raised in Provo and then Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended Irving Jr. High, South High School and LDS Business College.

She married her best friend and sweetheart, William Erickson, on September 30th, 1939. They had just celebrated seventy-two years together when Dad passed away in November 2011. They shared a great love for their family and their home. They were probably both happiest when hiking the trails of Southern Utah with friends or just each other, their favorite place being anyplace in Capital Reef. Mom was a devoted wife, and mother, and was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beth was the executive secretary for the business manager at Sears for 20 years. She enjoyed her work, but was glad to retire and spend more time in her home. She was good at whatever she put her mind to. She loved music and played the piano for her own enjoyment and served as pianist for the Relief Society and Primary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There was always music in the house in one form or another, and she instilled that joy of music in her children and grandchildren.

Beth is survived by her son, Bill Erickson (Mary Ann) and daughter, Jan Smith (Gregg), four grandchildren, Heidi Aldridge (Randy), Gavin Erickson (Heather), Jonathan Hess (Laura), Heather West (Chris) and six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tyson, Jane, Max, Ada and Ruger.

Preceded in death by her sweet husband, Bill, and her four dear brothers and their spouses, Morris Johnson (Beatrice), V. Dick Johnson (Dorothy), S. Lyle Johnson (Dorothy) and Ted Johnson (Merry). They were an extraordinary family.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff at Comfort Worx Hospice for their care this past year, and The Wellington, for the wonderful care and friendship they extended to Mom these past seven years. She considered it her home, and made many good friends there.

A private graveside service was held for family members on August 23rd with interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

We love you Mom.
