Helen Edith Levin Latimer Joseph

1919 ~ 2016

Helen Edith Levin Latimer Joseph, our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend passed away on Friday evening January 1, 2016 at the age of 96. Helen was born in Moore, Idaho, September 12, 1919 the daughter of Neils Nephi and Martha Williams Levin. She was the sixth child of eight siblings all of whom have passed on. She recounted many memories of her escapades and adventures with her friends and siblings as a child and young adult. Her stories will be greatly missed by all.

After graduating from Woodland High, she met Virgil LeRoy Latimer in Woodland California and they married July 1, 1940 in Sparks, Nevada. Together they raised four sons and a daughter in Salt Lake City. Roy passed away July 2, 1973. She married Ronald Leland Joseph May 7, 1976 in Ely, Nevada and later moved to Sandy, Utah. Ron brought her joy, happiness, and took loving care of her during their 39 years of marriage. He died November 2, 2015 at the age of 97.

Helen worked in the medical field most of her life. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, stamp collecting, boating, fishing, and traveling up the coast highway 101 in their motor home. She was fascinated with the scenery and polishing rocks she found.

Survived by children: Earl L Latimer (Ruth), Michael L Latimer (Laine), Jenean Tryon (Eldon), Virgil D Latimer (Anne), step-children; Carole Jackman (George) and Ronald Wayne Joseph (Pat). Helen is also survived by many grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, loving in-laws, neighbors, friends, all of whom she dearly loved.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald L Joseph, her son Bruce L Latimer, parents, her first husband Virgil LeRoy Latimer, four brothers and three sisters, granddaughter Kenna Keener, grandson Virgil Tyson "BUB" Latimer and many in-laws.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. There will be a viewing from 12:30-1:45 p.m. the same day. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
