Karen Marie Clawson Brown

1939 ~ 2017

Karen Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 5, 2017. She was born March 4, 1939 in Phoenix, Arizona to Marion Lawrence and Florence Johnson Clawson. Her family moved to Salt Lake City when she was 15 years old and she graduated from South High School in 1957. She married Robert Madison Brown on August 19, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. She had 4 daughters and 13 grandkids. Karen retired in 2008 after working 27 years for the University Hospital. She held many callings in the LDS church, serving in the Young Women, Primary and Relief Society. She loved being a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Belvedere Camp. Karen had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She sang in various choirs over the years. Karen loved spending time with her family. She loved to have her grandkids come to visit and enjoyed doing craft projects with them. She will be dearly missed.

Karen is survived by her husband, Robert Brown; daughters - Karrie Pati, Becky (Kevin) Tirrell, Kristy Brown, and Lynda (Mike) Goleman; Grandkids - Tyler, Braeden, Katie, Hunter, Maddie, Toby, Tank, Jonathan, Andrew, Clate, Trissie, Anabel and Stanley; Brothers - Lawrence, Dale (Faye), Neil (Bev), Hugh, Edwin (Karen) and Gregory.

Preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Florence and sister in-laws - Robin, Melva and Louise.

We want to thank the staff of Huntsman Cancer Hospital, University Hospital, Legacy Village Taylorsville and Envision Hospice for the loving care they provided for our mother.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wells Ward, 1990 South 500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, October 8, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, as well as from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Ward prior to services. Interment at Holladay Memorial Park.
