Mark Jackson

1957 ~ 2014

Mark Jackson quietly passed away surrounded by family, December 30, 2014. Mark was born on September 12, 1957 in Albion, Nebraska to Robert and Sally Jackson. He was educated in Nebraska and graduated from Hastings Tech in 1975. Mark\s first job was in the family business at Jackson Motors in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska from 1975-1986. Mark had wonderful memories and stories from working there. Mark also worked at Sentinel Buildings in Albion, Nebraska from 1991-1997.

Mark moved to the state of Utah in 1997 to marry the love of his life, Lynn Dixon. Mark pursued a career in inside sales and was employed at The Local Pages up until his passing. Mark excelled at his job and enjoyed his coworkers. Mark was a handsome and very generous person who enjoyed watching his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers play football. Mark loved music and movies and had an extraordinary knowledge of all things music related. Mark loved good food and loved to barbecue with family and friends. Mark was always after Grandma to make her famous potato salad. We will miss his long stories that always started \"I had this buddy back in Nebraska...,\" his corny jokes and his compassionate heart. Mark had many friends in both Nebraska and Utah and was always friendly to everyone.

Mark is survived by his wife of nearly 18 years, Lynn Dixon. Two daughters, Melissa (Braden) Bergher and Sarah (Jake) Leonard. Three grandsons, Hunter, Joel and Liam. Mark is also survived by brother Steve (Jill) Jackson, sisters Ann (Steve) Gray and Jayne (Jack) Nelson, mother and father-in-law Rva Harkness and Dermont West, Uncle Richard and many nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jackson and mother, Marcella (Sally) Jackson.

Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00pm at Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may gather at the mortuary one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made on Mark\s behalf to the Pulmonary Department at uhospitalfoundation.org
