Daniel Lynn Barrett was born on October 10, 1962 and fought a courageous battle with brain cancer for twenty-two years. He returned to his Father in Heaven on December 1, 2016. Daniel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Daniel was a born athlete and excelled in football at every level from little league to college. He played at Snow College and later joined his brother, Mike, at Southern Oregon University. He had a love for all sports including boxing where he fought as a heavyweight at the National Golden Gloves in New York. Dan loved to go golfing with life-long friend, Chris Fast, who was like a brother to him. Daniel had a strong work ethic and worked for years in the wholesale and retail produce industry.
Dan is survived by his parents Marvin and Ann Featherstone Barrett; siblings Mike Barrett, Gina Barrett (Gordon) Blair, and Brenda Barrett (Wade) Sanders; children Seth (Julie) Barrett, Jordan Barrett, and Rachel Barrett; granddaughter Lydia Barrett.
Preceded in death by his brother David LeGrand Barrett.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the graveside service. All viewings will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S.) in Sandy.
